Waterfalls & Scenic Lookouts

Combine viewing the epic Kakabeka Falls with several must-do lookouts around the city. Thunder Bay has a very dramatic setting that is best explored by bike.
Often called the “Niagara Falls of the North”, Kakabeka Falls is a dramatic 40-meter (130-foot) waterfall located in a provincial park along the Trans Canada Highway. This route takes you on a short ride out to the falls and then brings you back into Fort William and then crosses the Kam River into the Fort William First Nations Reserve to visit two great scenic stops, Mount McKay Scenic Lookout and Chippewa Park.
Be forewarned that you must travel up some gravel roads to Mount McKay but the view of the city it provides is unforgettable. Chippewa Park is another great stop to take in the view of Lake Superior.
