Copper Harbour MI to Bayfield WI
Duration: 4 hr | Distance: 380 km / 236 mi
You’ll be impressed with today’s ride, with over 380 km (236 mi) of incredible roads as you traverse down the shoreline and into Wisconsin. If you like a particular stretch of twisty road, why not turn around and do it again? There is a ton to see on the Keweenaw Peninsula, including mine tours, scenic look-outs, and historic mining towns.
Be sure to take the time to see the sites in this unique region and stop into the town of Calumet and check out the historic downtown. Next door to the Calumet Theatre is Shute’s Saloon (pronounced Shoo-teez), Michigan’s longest continually operated bar. Have a drink and pretend you’re a miner from the 1900s while taking in the original back bar and trappings of this boom-town saloon. Further south you will pass through Ontonagon and then Porcupine Mountains State Park where you will pick your way up and down this hilly landscape that you’d swear was made for motorcycles.
Cruising into Ashland you will ride along the shore again. You can either stay here for the night or a little further up in the picturesque Town of Bayfield, Wisconsin. Also, if you are in for an extra adventure, take the Madeline Island Ferry across to Madeline Island for the night.
