Thunder Bay ON to Nipigon ON
Duration: 1 hr 24 min | Distance: 187 km / 116 mi
This is not a huge distance day but it is more focused on seeing more remarkable sites in and around Thunder Bay. After breakfast check out some of the lookouts and then head to the Terry Fox Monument, an inspirational Canadian story.
From here head down the twisty road to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park (watch for deer) and go all the way to the end of the road to Silver Islet. Wind your way back up to the Trans Canada Highway and continue east. For adventurers, be sure to check out Ouimet Canyon or Eagle Canyon Adventures (note there is a gravel access road here) for the incredible suspension bridge views.
You can spend the night in either Red Rock or Nipigon. If you like to fish and have a rod with you, Nipigon is home to some of the largest rainbow trout in the world.
